John McRobert Letter to Backbone Australia

We recently received this letter from our friend John McRobert. We are calling this our “Letter of the Year” (at least so far):

“Dear Editor,

On the first of April, one must wonder how many April Fuel days will we experience this year?

This first energy shock is hitting us below the bowsers. While we double up with the pain, the TKO will be when our once well-maintained coal-fired power stations are shut down. Blackouts will be the second energy shock.

Reality is a harsh task-master. Fossil fuels on which our economy was built and on which it depends are composed of carbon dioxide photosynthesized by millions of years of solar energy. Using some of the power and recycling some CO2 back into the atmosphere makes good sense. It has never caused runaway global warming in the past, why should it do so now?

Net zero is a concocted concept promoted by ignorance and political and financial opportunists. Ditch this baggage overboard and the ship of state will be in far better shape to survive the storms.

Cheers, John McRobert”
